Eternally Yours

Eternally Yours - Cate Tiernan 3.75 http://www.nobentspines.blogspot.com/What does it mean to live forever? Can you really choose to be good or evil? If you could drop everything and run, run from all your mistakes and problems, go anywhere, be anyone, do anything- would you? If the person you love did the thing that killed who you were, all that innocence and child-like wonder gone, if they did the unthinkable, would you let yourself fall or keep your heart locked in a glass case? These are just a few of the questions that Nastasya faces in this epic conclusion to one of my favorite series. She's made herself better and after all that she's been through, her family's death and Incy's head being mailed to her, she needs a bit of love and happiness. Ha. But she doesn't think she deserve it. Of course HE fights for her and against her. Mmm Reyn. I mean what?I don't really have much to say about this. It was awesome it was action packed. River's brothers are all super uhmmm...protective? Is that a nice way to put it?? Well....almost all of them. Huh. Guys, if you haven't read this- go. Go forth and read this series. I love it. You'll love it. We all love it. *round of applause* Cool stuff. Nobody is ever what they seem to be, are they?

Something Strange and Deadly

Something Strange and Deadly - http://www.nobentspines.blogspot.com/This book was an enticing mixture of Alice in Zombieland and Dearly, Departed. Set in a true Victorian background, this novel played with the idea of live after death, zombies and women who think. When Eleanor's brother doesn't come back as planned and a note from him comes in the hands of a zombie, she's confused to say the least. There are secrets swarming around her like flies: her father's death, her suitor's ugly past, her brother's true whereabouts and Daniel's connection with all of it.For me, I was disappointed. There was so much hype over this book. 5 Star ratings and people telling me I just had to read it or I would die. I didn't want to die so I thought I'd give it a shot. Also, her dress (the girl on the cover's) is really pretty. But there is no correlation between the cover and the story. There was too much going on and the sad part was, none of it was remotly interesting. My mind was separated, going back and forth between zombies and love triangles and creepy feelings and dynamite and rich people and inventions and world traveling and voodoo and spirits. My mind was close to exploding. But, I muscled through it because I felt it was my duty to me fellow bibliophiles. The set up was very much like the Victorian-ness of Dearly, Departed without the steam punk, modern twist and had the evil zombie's and zombie fighters like in Alice in Zombie Land. I expected more steam punk. I wanted more. More!!Overall, this was a quick read. Easy and safe. It won't rip your heart out or steal your soul. Would I read it again? Nope. Sorry. *shrugs*Hope this review helped you decide whatever there as to decide!! Share the bloggy love

The Next Time You See Me

The Next Time You See Me - Holly Goddard Jones *Won The Next Time You See Me from Goodreads First Reads.*DNFJust didn't keep me interested.
Lola and the Boy Next Door - Stephanie Perkins http://www.nobentspines.blogspot.com/Booh. I was disappointed with this book. I don't like saying that about one of my favorite authors. Sad face. I don't really know how to review this but here it goes: this book was predicable and Lola was a little annoying. Cricket was my favorite character because he actually made sense. O.O Well besides Anna and St. Clair OBVIOUSLY. Surprised they're in this book? Don't be. And they are just as cute here as they were then. Okay. I really don't know what to say. Sorry. I'll just give you some quotes I love. “I know you aren't perfect. But it's a person's imperfections that make them perfect for someone else.” "But he couldn't concentrate on the moon. He was too distracted by the stars." "And I held my head high toward my big entrance, hand and hand with the boy who gave me to moon and the stars."

The Darkest Minds

The Darkest Minds - Alexandra Bracken I'm a little iffy on how to review this so I'll just dive right in. This book was slow, and even when it was faster, it was still snail pace. It did keep me wanting to continue to read even though it was super slow and I suppose that's a definite check mark. http://www.nobentspines.blogspot.com/I loved all the characters and the world that was created was wonderful. It wasn't shiny and bright and flower filled. It was a mess. People have blocked off the children and sent them to a camp to be 'cured' but instead they're being experimented on.This was a book about bravery and love and sacrifice. That ending was sacrifice. I hate the ending. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it.One of my favorite things was the romance between Ruby and Liam. It was sweet. It wasn't the heart stopping filled with passion let's just let the world burn around us while we make out kind of romance. Nope. It was slow and actually had some background to it. It made you want that kind of love. I love love. Other than that I don't really have much to say about this. I do hope you read it but it wasn't a heart stopping book. The book will grow on you. It was addicting. I mean, I read that 500 page thing in one sitting. WITH my sister watching TV. Which was very distracting, by the way.
The Way We Fall - Megan Crewe http://www.nobentspines.blogspot.com/The Way We Fall reminded me of the app PLAGUE. The basics of this insanely addicting app is to mutate your virus/ bacteria/ biological weapon so drastically that humans can't build a cure fast enough. So the goal is to kill the entire human population off. Fun right? I won on my first try *proud smile* One day, everything is normal, the next someone you know is dead. This book is written like a journal. At first Kae is writing is to she Leo that she can become a good person again, to show her best friend that she can turn back into herself. After the dead start rising and people she knew and loved are dead or gone, she begins to write it like observations. Almost like the journal is her legacy. “This is what we do. We make tea and read books and watch people die.”In the midst of this she finds friends and some one to love.Kae: In the summary it says bravery. I didn't actually think she was all that brave. Yes, she called people to inform them of the lock down and the virus that is pretty much destroying their entire population. But she does all that on the phone. Yes, she helps with food distribution and such, but she's doing that to feel better and distract her from all the dead. It felt like her situation with Gav was more of a situational romance than anything else. They were together because they had no on left. With every death she sunk deeper and deeper into herself. Meredith is her little cousin and just the cutest thing ever. She's also the one person Kae would do anything to protect.Gav: This boy has a serious hero complex. He feels that he has to do everything and if he doesn't he's failing someone. Well, everyone. He feels it's his mission to save his island and ultimately save the world. I do think he really fell for Kae. He was likeable, but no book boyfriend here. Pooh.Overall, I give this book like a 3.4 I didn't fall (haha) for it and it didn't make my world spin. It was fine. Average. It was a book about survival and losing hope. It was about death and destruction and how a few people can help. It was about running and falling and hope. This book was the essence of hope. Because if everyone's falling around you, if you don't hope, you'll fall too whether it by your hand or something else's. “Most people think the scariest thing is knowing that you’re going to die. It’s not. It’s knowing you might have to watch every single person you’ve ever loved – or even liked – waste away while you just stand there.”

Keeping Her

Keeping Her - Cora Carmack http://www.nobentspines.blogspot.com/Who doesn't love Cora Carmack? By now, everyone knows her name and her funny, heartfelt and utterly romantic stories. Keeping Her was no exception. We meet up with Garrick and Bliss in this novella. They're now engaged and going of to London (LONDON!!! OMG THE ACCENTS) to meet Garrick's parents. They are a reputation. Especially his mother. This novella mainly focused on the growth of Garrick and Bliss's relationship. And the (....insert a sorta spoily spoiler here that I can't tell you so haha you have to read it youself.....) The mother was scary and the dad had like the false persona of nice-ness, but Bliss is well, Bliss. She can charm anyone. But the whole point of this is can she charm them before they scare her away? Can Giarrick keep her? I loved how this was from both of their perspectives!!!*I love his friends...most of the time xD
Ink - Amanda Sun 4.75Review to come
The Gathering - Kelley Armstrong Review to come
By Blood (By Blood #1) - Tracy E. Banghart *received for book tour*You're life is no where near as perfect on the inside as it appears to be on the outside. Your mother cheated on your father while they were married and had a child. She divorced your father. He's the only person you trust now. You lose yourself in clothes and self- defense classes. Your mother takes you off to her new husbands house and has you babysitting your baby step brother the entire summer. The only up? The really ( and I mean really) hot guy who is the leader of Druid ceremonies. Only, he has a few secrets of his own. No one is who they seem and the perfect guy may have been right next door (literally) all along.Who are you? Your Emma Wong, of course! This is a book about accepting what been given to you and seeing that things aren't always as they seem. Over all this book was decent. Not at all like I expected it to be and not my usual book. i don't think I've read anything with Druids in it before so that was nice.
Five Flavors of Dumb - Antony John http://www.nobentspines.blogspot.com/3.5Let's just start with the cover. I love it. It's one of my favorites!! The colors are amazing the girl has the whole rocker things going on. The font really fits with the book too(: And look at all those screaming fans!!!Le book. Well....okay. I had high expectations. Why? Because LOOK AT THAT COVER! Sorry. I'm a cover person. Over all I though this was a fine story. Just fine. I didn't really like Piper. Or her mom and dad. And I always had a bad feeling about Josh. I felt like Piper was...hidden? She felt ignored and on some parts, she was. Her dad for example: in the beginning he was a total jerk and refused to learn to sign even though his daughter couldn't hear. Piper's parents dipped into her college funds from her parents to buy a cochlear for her baby sister. The band. Dumb was amazing and I felt they grew a lot as time went on. Sometimes they were, well, dumb and other times they were amazing. They were five flavors, win some, lose some and together they were awesome. We got to have an inside look at the music scene a bit, just a bit. The book was more about the band's dynamic with each other more than anything else. Piper was a bit judgmental for someone who got judged all the time. I would think that she would try try to be less so because she knows how it feel to be judged. The romance in the book was almost non existent. I mean what is there is pretty stinkin cute, but it's barely there. I would have loved to see more.
Gargoyle Addiction (Otherworlds Summons, #1) - Livia Olteano http://www.nobentspines.blogspot.com/3.75This was an up and down and up and down sorta book. It would be all good then someone would do something that I really didn't approve of and be all like 'oh crap, what just happened.' I found it amusing. The book was about overcoming lust and finding love, believing in yourself and discovering what you want. When Karla's really awesome friend gives her an ARC copy of a book she's been waiting FOREVER for, she can't wait to read it. I think we can all relate to that. When she finally gets to sleep, she makes a wish that changes everything. She wishes for Kann. The evil gargoyle from the book. When they see each other, it's MEGA (like meteorite sized) ista attraction. At first it's Kann who's all, we can't be together so I'm going to be a complete meanie head about everything on this stupid realm of earth. Yeahhhh...that didn't go so well. Then into the book, it was like they switched roles. Huh.Overall I found this world enchanting and magical. Kann was somewhere in between swoon-worthy and really annoying. Karla was strong but still needed someone to care for her. Between finding themselves and each other, they found something neither of them were expecting, or wanted, but can't live without: belonging & love.Although I found the ending a little bit sudden, I am curious to find out what happens next. I do wish there was a cliff-hanger at the end though. I want to know what happens with Mr Dragon

History of the World in 6 Glasses

A History of the World in 6 Glasses - Tom Standage School work is finally finished!

Of Triton

Of Triton - Anna Banks Just give me the book and no one gets hurt. Honey, May....no sweetie. Try nowThanks so much darling.http://www.nobentspines.blogspot.com/2.7Well hello there all you lovely people who happen to have popped by to read this review. This book is readable. It was readable but I liked it no where near as much as the first one. With Of Poseidon, I was obsessed. I was intrigued by the romance and the situation and who she was and who Emma was becoming. With Of Triton I was disappointed. Maybe if the first book wasn't so freaking amazing I wouldn't have had such astronomical expectations. But I did.Everything in Of Triton felt rushed. Not fast paced. Rushed. And if you have read some of my other review, you know this is one of my biggest pet peeves and the main reason I don't read novellas.Honestly, I liked the romance a lot better in Of Poseidon than in Of Triton. I did think that when Emma went down into the kingdom to sort of save Galen's world from their own stupidity, it was amazing. Anna did a really good job on that scene and it was by far my favorite in the book. Especially when she asked a by stander to pick a shark. *smirks* That was an amazinggg entrance.Let's face it. The book was short and over quick, but there were some points where I was like 'get on with it already!' For such a short, rushed read, it sure dragged on.As I said before, maybe if book one wasn't so fabulous I wouldn't have been so sad with the outcome. Even though I didn't like this as much I'm still looking forward to Of Neptune.
Witchling (Curse of Kin, #1) - Ari Harper Received for tour http://www.nobentspines.blogspot.com/Final rating: 3.5I love this book. 3.5? Yeah, that seems like a reasonable rating. Nera is a girl who is used to getting what she wants. She lives a pretty average high school life-one where that chemistry test is the thing you fear the most. So when her uncle tells her she's gonna have to save the world or everything is going to go horribly wrong, oh yeah, and that she's a witch, she might have freaked out. And be in denial. Just a little. Hey, but she's got Bones, a really hot and powerful protector. If only he wasn't just so annoying...Now if she can just make it to finals....She has great friends, the embrace the witch and deal with the word that rhymes with witch in her. Yes that one. Nera has a tempter, is a bit childish and sometimes she is just plain mean. Some things you just don't say. She says all of them. One of my majorrr complaints is she doesn't grow at all in this book. At all. Bones really isn't that bad. He's super helpful and wants to keep her safe. I mean it's his job. Nera, is indeed, a brat. BUT HER BABY BROTHER IS SO ADORABLE. I mean he comes to her.......from the future. Plus, the ending is amazing. Okay, so the whole book is about preparing for the ultimate fight. (and then that other thing I can't tell you about) But when they do actually 'fight' is like 2 pages on my Kindle. What is this?So do I recommend it? Uhm, yes. More Bones, please.
Landlocked (Surface #2) - Tiffany Daune Received for book tour
